EUDR - European Union Deforestation Regulation

The EUDR (European Union Deforestation Regulation) is the EU regulation that sets rules for placing, making available and exporting certain products, with the aim of reducing the link between EU consumption, deforestation and forest degradation.

Companies covered by the regulation must demonstrate, through due diligence, that their products are legal, deforestation-free and not sourced from land subject to forest degradation after 31 December 2020. The regulation covers, among others, the supply chains for soy, cattle, palm oil, cocoa, coffee, rubber and wood, as well as certain derived products.

Products covered

  • Soy
  • Beef
  • Palm oil
  • Cocoa
  • Coffee
  • Rubber
  • Wood (specific conditions apply)

The EUDR marks an important shift in access to the European Union market, requiring companies to strengthen traceability, information gathering, risk assessment and documentary evidence of compliance.
